RE: Help! Just got my first embroidery machine!

Your terminology is a bit confusing, but I think you are trying to make Applique lettering using the embroidery machine to do a "Satin" stitch around the flag ribbon to make letters. You will need to learn digitizing where stitches are created to a particular pattern making letters and shapes. This is one of the most difficult embroidery tasks. Applique lettering is available for purchase, but must be constructed in digitizing software. The letters will need to be in the same format that your embroidery machine can understand. Brother machines use .PES format lettering. Most machines understand their own special format of file. My machine uses .TAP & .DST. so the machine understands the design to sew it. There are embroidery lettering sets that have the Red, white and blue format in them, they might be easier to use than to try applique.I may be able to help you with a 4th of July design if you like. What machine do you own, Make and model? and what is the largest sew hoop you have for it? Kelly San Diego, CA

I have some flag ribbon and would like to make outfits for the 4th. I can do it the old fashion way with my sewing machine, I just thought that with this machine it would be easier. I can operate my machine marginal, I do know how to make letters and the designs that came on the machine. But thats all I can do at this time. |

Hello, What you are trying to do is called digitizing. Words, objects everything embroidered needs to be digitized. The above poster is correct. there are software you can download and use to digitize the words you want. Size, arrangement, positioning, space between letters and words is digitizing. Send email to me off this site and I can digitize words for you. Some guys charge for the digitizing services. I will do it for you by email for nada Free. good luck with the machine. I used to have a Brother Innovis 4500D now I have a Happy HCD 1501 15 needle high speed fully commercial embroidery only machine. Good Luck, Kelly San Diego, CA HCD 1501

I purchased the machine thinking that since I have some sewing experience, I could embroider...lol...not that simple! So far, I have figured out how to embroider one word, but is it possible to embroider 2 words on top of each other without having to embroider first word, then readjust fabric, etc.??? For example:
Rolling Hills
I need to get a similar logo/wording embroidered on 6 dry fit polos! I even thought I could, do not want to, but could have words beside each other if I have too, but can't figure out how to do that either...how do you put space in between words? Any help would be greatly appreciated!!!

Hey! i'm very new too and i'm looking into getting something unique designed... i have the same machine you do... and so far, i've come across font embroidering softwares that are free to download... and you design whatever the words you want... then connect your machine to the computer and you will drag it to the folder that is in your machine.. once you turn it on to get ready to embroider it will appear under the usb port . hope it helps!
