EMBROIDERY PROJECT
Skill Level:  IntermediateTime Required:  12 hour(s)

Material:
  • Cotton fabric
  • Isacord embroidery thread
  • Cotton batting

  • Project Steps:

Step 1: Cut 4" wide strips of fabric for the nine patches.  You will make six 10" nine block squares with two coordinating fabrics.

Step 2: Embroider the dog designs approximately 5"x 5"  You will embroider three dog designs.  They don't have to be the same design.  In the sample I provided I have three different designs.  I also embroidered the dogs name on each square.  Then you will cut them down to 10"

Step 3: Then sew the applique paws.  I created 4 of them an included the dogs name.  I also made one for the owner and embroidered "We (heart) (insert name)"  You will cut these down to 10" also.

Step 4: Then you will sew each row together alternating between the nine patch and an embroidered square.

Step 5: Once all the rows are sewed together I added a 2" solid brown fabric between the rows.  This helps for those who don't sew too much in that you don't have to worry too much about making sure all the seams line up.

Step 6: Once the top is put together you can add the border which in this case was 3" wide for the top and 6" wide for the sides.

Step 7: Finally quilt it and put on the binding!
