Nativity Scenes (In The Hoop) Embroidery Design Pack2 tear-away backing pieces per embroidery design - sized to fit in your hoopGold embroidery thread and matching bobbin threadSpray adhesiveScissorsSmall package of sticky back velcro strips (you do not need very much)Thick appliqué fabric pieces - we used cream PSA Twill for our appliqué pieces
Please let us know if we can cut the appliqué pieces for you. Email: designs@starbirdinc.com. You can also cut your own fabric; we suggest a stiff fabric as the appliqué helps to hold up the pieces. We can now email the dieline to you on a separate file so you can create a template. Send an email to designs@starbirdinc.com requesting the dielines for the Nativity Scenes (In The Hoop) Design Pack and also include the type of embroidery file you need for your machine.

Step 1: First hoop two pieces of tear away backing in your hoop. Then embroider the design until you get the color stop: Stop for appliqué. Stop your machine and go to Step 2.
Step 2: Remove the hoop from your machine. Do not unhoop the design. Turn the hoop over so you are looking at the back of the design. Trim any extra stitches.
Step 3: Now place the bottom appliqué piece on the back of the design making sure that the appliqué piece is secure and will not fall off when you return the hoop to the machine. (If you are using your own fabric be sure to use an adhesive spray to keep the appliqué piece in place.)
Step 4: Carefully return the hoop to your machine and continue embroidering the design.
Step 5: This is what the back or your embroidered design will look like when completed.
Step 6: Remove the design from the hoop and gently tear away the backing from the design. You may need to trim away any excess backing or stray thread. Embroider the rest of the designs using the instructions above.
Step 1: Start with the Nativity Barn Back and Roof designs. Leave the 2 sides of Velcro stuck together. Cut the pieces of Velcro sized to fit on the tabs then adhere the hook side of the Velcro pieces to the tabs, pressing firmly.
Step 2. Then remove the plastic from the ruff Velcro side, line up the back to the roof and press firmly.
Step 3: Repeat Steps 1 & 2 to attach the sides of the stable to the back first and then the roof.
Step 4: Follow the instructions for the Velcro on how long it will take for the Velcro to reach maximum strength. The Velcro we used said to wait for 24 hours before use. Now you have a completed stable for Baby Jesus.

Adding the stands to Baby Jesus, the people and animals
Step 1: After you have embroidered the designs and stands you can now connect the stands to the nativity pieces. See the Nativity Stand.pdf file for a list of which stand fits each piece.
| Step 2: Joseph's stand is 3 1/2". With the embroidered side facing out hook one side of the stand to the notch in the base of Joseph's design. Then curve the stand around and hook the other side of the stand in the notch. |
