Autumn Harvest Apples SKU: CD051506FQ

If you are like I am, you have plastic grocery bags stuffed under the sink, in the pantry, and sometimes stuffed in between appliances on the counter. Here is a great way to solve this kitchen clutter by putting all of these plastic bags in a great organizer that you can create yourself. We have used two designs from our Autumn Harvest Design Pack for this project. Please feel free to use any designs that you like.

Materials Needed

• 2 pieces of ¼ inch wide elastic 7 inches wide
• 1 piece of fabric 25 inches long by 14 ¼ inches wide
• 2 pieces of cording 33 inches long
• 1 piece of cording 10 inches long

1. On the piece of fabric you will need to embroider the designs of your choice in the center of the fabric. We suggest embroidering the middle design first then embroidered the top and bottom designs 3 ½” above and below the center design. This makes the three designs 12” high. Please check to make sure you have enough fabric above and below the designs before you sew them.

2. Then sew a ¼ inch rolled hem across the 14 ¼ inch width of the fabric at both ends of the fabric. (These will be the top and bottom of the bag.)

3. Place one piece of elastic across the width of the fabric 3 inches below the top hem and the second piece of elastic 3 inches above the bottom hem. Stretch and sew the elastic in place.

4. Fold fabric in half lengthwise with the wrong sides of fabric together. Sew a ¼ inch seam lengthwise to create a 25 inch tube shape. Trim this seam to 1/8 inch. Turn tube inside out sew another ¼ inch seam lengthwise which encases the first ¼ inch lengthwise seam, thus creating a “French seam”.

5. Place the middle of each 33 inch cording on the back seam where the elastic gathers. Use a tack down stitch to secure cording to the fabric. Then rap the cording around the gathered area and tie it in a bow.

6. Tack down both ends of the 10 inch long cording to the inside hem an inch below the top of the bag.

7. Now your bag is complete. Just stuff with plastic bags and hang on a door.
