Follow these points to ensure success with your embroidery machine.

After you have hooped your item, before inserting it into the machine, check these points to help ensure a successful result. Turn the hooped piece over to inspect the stabilizer. Is it smooth and flat, extending from all edges of the hoop? In fact, your stabilizer should be hooped so well that you could embroider on it even if the fabric weren’t present!

  • Select the smallest hoop that will comfortably accommodate the design.
  • Mark for straightness and for the center of your design.
  • Use a stand, jig or double-faced tape to hold the bottom hoop ring steady.
  • Insert the hoop from top to bottom, finishing with the heels of your hands.
  • Press the inner ring to be slightly lower than the outside ring, to place it flat to the machine bed and increase fabric surface tension.
  • Avoid tugging on fabric to remove ripples.
  • Make sure the stabilizer extends from all sides of the hoop.
  •

  • Avoid too much tightening of hoop after hooping, except on very bulky items.
  • Try to lift the fabric from the stabilizer layer after hooping. They should be difficult to separate.
  • Be sure your stabilizer is hooped well enough that you could embroider on your stabilizer if the fabric were not present.
  •

After you have removed the item from the hoop, use a damp cloth to remove any hoop ring that shows on your garment. If this doesn’t work, moisten the cloth with the laundry aid Magic Sizing Spray and lightly moisten the hoop ring to remove it completely. Test on an inconspicuous spot for suitability to your fabric. If this remedy fails to remove the hoop ring, your hoop may have been adjusted too tightly.

Hopefully, these tips will allow you to avoid problems with your hoop as you embroider with your machine. Good luck!
